Fatsia 2Ltr

Fatsia, also known as the Japanese Aralia, is a versatile evergreen shrub that is native to Japan and South Korea. It is an ideal choice for UK gardens due to its hardiness and adaptability to a range of growing conditions.

Fatsia grows best in partial to full shade, although it can tolerate some sun exposure in cooler, moister climates. It prefers well-drained, moist soil and benefits from regular watering in dry periods. It can grow up to 2-3 metres in height and 1.5-2.5 metres in width, forming a rounded, bushy shape with large, glossy green leaves that can be up to 30cm in diameter.

While Fatsia is not known for its flowers, it can produce small, creamy white flowers in autumn, which are followed by black berries. However, the main attraction of Fatsia is its bold, architectural foliage, which remains attractive all year round.

To promote healthy growth and lush foliage, Fatsia benefits from regular feeding with a balanced fertiliser, applied during the growing season. Pruning is not usually necessary, but if needed, it can be done in early spring to control the size and shape of the shrub.

Overall, Fatsia is a low-maintenance, attractive shrub that is perfect for adding year-round interest to shady spots in UK gardens.
